Overview of Cranial 4 (C4):

The people with the most experience make the fewest mistakes. The only way to get experience is by making mistakes. Beginners want to learn as many techniques as they can. Knowing they do not know, they seek volume to fill the chasm of unknowing. The more you understand, the less you need to do, until you develop your skill to the point that you hardly use existing technique at all. Every touch becomes a new, fresh technique, the world has never seen it before, and you get it from the client, “because that’s where the money is.” It’s so simple that it takes years to understand: One has to learn a thousand techniques in order to understand a single one.

Then you only need a single one.

Class Focus

This class focuses on an appreciation of shamanism as the grandmother and grandfather spirit of almost all healing work, and the development of inner eye and inner ear perception. This right brain work is balanced by a deepening of our understanding of the TMJ, TMD and brain anatomy. Intuitive learning and cognitive understanding come together in the skillful use of Psychometry.

There is no way that I know of, to develop skillfulness with clients without working upon yourself. In this training, skill development takes three principal routes: personal work in movement and in meditation (four-chambered heart (C2), circulation of the light (C2), Vipassana (every class) and Tuay Sho and Contact Improvisation (most classes), in small group process, in the marking of your Client Records, in ritual, and in daily practices such as the Cherokee Dance. It is also helpful to have some form of on-going therapy or supervision for yourself, where it is both needed and possible.

The second route lies in the intuitive development modules, such as the body reading work in C1, C2 and C3, the WTTS sequence in C3, the intuitive reading work in C3 (assignment, cold reading, delineation, questions, hot reading, and feedback).

In C4 we will use a different kind of intuitive reading model that uses the concept of spatial change to locate and harness visionary perception, using what we will call ‘Soul State, Guides and Ancestor Spirits,’ and what the ancient Chinese called ‘The Higher Powers.’ We will continue to use these, and new class exercises to develop stillness and perception, such as in the practice of discerning a person’s spiritual name.

The third channel is anatomic and palpatory. In this class we will focus on psychometry, first of an object brought to class by another student, then on the mandible of another student. Finally we will work in small groups and use psychometry on a photograph that has been brought in by another student. We will study TMJ anatomy and TMJ testing. We will discuss brain anatomy, and work through the ‘Dance of Interaction,’ and apply this with perception and touch to the respiratory diaphragm.

This class offers 32 NCBTMB-approved CEs and is open to practitioners who have completed C1–C3.
